Virus Alarm?

posted Jul 3, 2011, 7:34 PM

Some users report that their anti-virus barks at file SLPlugin.exe in Singularity 1.5.9(1) for Windows. There is certainly no virus in there, it's a False Positive.

Here and here are automated scan results of this file from multiple anti-viruses. Draw your own conclusions.

1.5.7 - featuring Avatar Physics!

posted May 10, 2011, 10:40 AM [ updated May 10, 2011, 11:45 AM ]

Changes since 1.5.6:

  • Avatar Physics wearable from Viewer 2.6, by Shyotl - we're the first non-V2 based TPV to implement the new, flexible jiggly body-parts system
  • Spell checking (port from Emerald/Imprudence), by Tigh
  • Thread safety improvements, by Aleric
  • Major graphics pipeline and texture system changes and fixes, by Shyotl - Ultra mode is less glitchy now, alpha+glow works again, anti-aliasing applies to high-res snapshots
  • Fonts are now properly hinted on Windows, making them more readable
  • Object and wearable import and export rework - Linden TOS compliant, OpenSim compatible.
  • A few dozen smaller fixes here and there.

We welcome two new contributors since last release, Tigh MacFanatic and Aleric Inglewood. If you follow viewer development, you might have heard of Aleric before, he has done magnificent contributions to Snowglobe and Imprudence projects, as well as submitted a number to Snowstorm.

1.5.6 Release - finally!

posted Apr 8, 2011, 1:13 PM

No, still not quite ready to call it 1.6.0, but perhaps close?

  • Inventory links disabled on non-compliant grids
  • Backported animation engine from V2, by Shyotl
  • All new deferred mode by Shyotl
  • New graphics system presets for Low (faster) and Ultra (enables new deferred mode)
  • Backported spatial partition system from V2, by Shyotl - affects performance for everyone, please report whether it's faster or slower for you
  • Map system rework - now uses fast map on SL, old-style map on other grids
  • Roleplaying: special support for CCS meters
  • LightShare on compliant OpenSim
  • Major rework of image handling and decoding system
  • Voice problems fixed
  • Minimap not cluttered up by skyboxes any longer - unless you are above them or close to them
  • Friend groups feature removed - it has never worked, not even in Ascent - will be brought back eventually
  • Sione's Media Filter
  • A few dozen assorted bug and crash fixes

Windows version is already up, Linux and OS X downloads upcoming.

1.5.5 Release!

posted Mar 5, 2011, 10:14 AM [ updated Mar 7, 2011, 6:04 PM ]

This version marks the start of slow, long and painful transition towards Singularity 1.6 - please watch out for hidden bugs!

  • Lots of internal, non user-visible changes by Shyotl
  • Lots of tiny UI changes all around - who finds all, gets a special Siana bear!!!
  • Font changed for license reasons
  • Fixed a possible TPVP compliance problem in search floater
  • OpenSim compatible Map by Henri - unfortunately slower on SL when zoomed out, sorry!
  • Emerald Local Assets and enhanced object hovetips, both taken from Imprudence
  • Emerald Animation Override with Imprudence remote control, Ascent AO removed
  • Unsubscribe from group chat per group, from Imprudence
  • Pose stand removed by Beeks' request - we don't have a license for included animations
  • Minimap markers for people sitting in a skybox are now displayed as extra tiny dots, instead of arrows pointing under ground
  • Fixed a braindead bug in my code which forced use of VBO for streamed geometry to off. Everyone please test the setting now and report which position is faster for you

In other news, our TPVD listing process is unstuck! After many endless weeks of waiting, we're finally on Linden Lab Third Party Viewer Directory!

Apologies to Henri Beauchamp

posted Mar 1, 2011, 10:14 AM

Some of readers might have noticed a defamatory statement on my website pertaining to Henri Beauchamp, developer of Cool VL. We have settled our differences and it turns out it was me making all the wrong assumptions. I'm very sorry -.-

1.5.4 - Hot fixes, grab 'em while they're hot!

posted Feb 21, 2011, 9:56 AM

Unfortunately 1.5.4 was born with a number of problems which are fixed in the following version.

  • All systems: About Land dialog causes partial viewer lock up
  • OS X: compile flag and packaging bugs
  • Windows: apparently the optimizer was smarter than me and removed tcmalloc memory manager from all prior release builds. Improvements were exclusively visible on my private builds -.- sorry! Forced it into place

What you have to do is:

  • OS X version: at the lower right corner of login screen, check that version reads: 1.5.4(1). If it doesn't, re-download and re-install
  • Windows version: at the lower right corner of login screen, check that version reads: 1.5.4(2). If it doesn't, re-download and re-install

In either case, if your version is 1.5.4(0), please upgrade immediately!
